Tour the world, its art and politics, in Venice
The 57th International Art Exhibition organised by the Venice Biennale opened last weekend with 86 countries, including the UAE, participating in national pavilions at the Giardini, the Arsenale and in the centre of Venice. Among the highlights at the UAE pavilion in the Weapon’s Room of the Arsenale is can’t you see how i feel, a work by Sara Al Haddad and a playful installation by novelist Deepak Unnikrishnan. Crowd-pleasers elsewhere include the Tunisian pavilion’s kiosk issuing “freesas” to allow “human beings” to “flow freely from one nation to the next”. The Venice Biennale runs until November 25.
