‘Get ready for the Cuban cigar wars’ by Jonathan Levin, Bloomberg
John Dennehy Shoukat Ali / AP Photo Unfortunately, we do not know a lot about this image. We do not know who this man was or where he was from. But we do know that it was taken in August, 1981, in Abu Dhabi during the Eid Al Fitr celebrations. He’s wearing aviator sunglasses – a classic 80s style, and is using a booq, a type of horn. In the left corner we can see a group men who look like they are about to perform the Al Ayala dance – they are assembling in a line and seem to be holding the traditional sticks. In 2014, the dance art was added to the Unesco cultural heritage list.
