Dibba welcomes plan for exhibition centre
FUJAIRAH // Residents of Dibba Al Fujairah hope a newly announced exhibition centre will boost the local economy and tourism.
The centre will have a modern design and cover 2,400 square metres. It will be built in Al Nahda and take 13 months to finish.
The plans came after directives from Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the emirate’s Ruler. The centre will be managed by the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
It would host exhibitions, conventions and trade fairs through the year, said Sultan Al Hindasi, the chamber’s deputy manager.
“Having a venue that can accommodate trade fairs, and na- tional and international exhibitions in Dibba is a step forward to promoting the area and its industries,” Mr Al Hindasi said.
“Its cool weather, high population and unique location overlooking the Indian Ocean makes it the perfect place for such projects. The facility will encourage more people to visit the area.”
Three ballrooms that can be joined into one are planned, along with restaurants, coffee shops and parking lots. Dibba resident Rasheed Al Dhanhani, 36, said: “Dibba is a very nice place and a getaway for many locals and tourists, and having a venue that can host many exhibitions will make people want to come and explore the area more.”
