Road to cap­i­tal’s Mid­field Ter­mi­nal on course to open by new year

In­ter­change A1, the road con­nect­ing the Abu DhabiSha­hama mo­tor­way to the new ter­mi­nal at Abu Dhabi In­ter­na­tional Air­port, is on course to open by the end of the year.

Abu Dhabi Gen­eral Ser­vices Com­pany (Mu­sanada) yes­ter­day said the Dh678 mil­lion project is 77 per cent com­plete and will pro­vide di­rect ac­cess to the Mid­field Ter­mi­nal from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain.

“Abu Dhabi-Sha­hama Road [E10] will be­come broader, from four to five lanes in both di­rec­tions, and the Pres­i­den­tial Flight road from two to three lanes,” said Saleh Al Mazrouei, Mu­sanada’s act­ing ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor for in­fra­struc­ture.

Four bridges will be built as en­try and exit points to the new ter­mi­nal and an­other for traf­fic from Khal­ifa City to the E10 (to­wards Dubai).

“Once op­er­a­tional, this project will sig­nif­i­cantly help im­prove traf­fic safety lev­els,” said Faisal Al Suwaidi, di­rec­tor-gen­eral of the main roads di­vi­sion at the Depart­ment of Trans­port.
