Road to capital’s Midfield Terminal on course to open by new year
Interchange A1, the road connecting the Abu DhabiShahama motorway to the new terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport, is on course to open by the end of the year.
Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) yesterday said the Dh678 million project is 77 per cent complete and will provide direct access to the Midfield Terminal from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain.
“Abu Dhabi-Shahama Road [E10] will become broader, from four to five lanes in both directions, and the Presidential Flight road from two to three lanes,” said Saleh Al Mazrouei, Musanada’s acting executive director for infrastructure.
Four bridges will be built as entry and exit points to the new terminal and another for traffic from Khalifa City to the E10 (towards Dubai).
“Once operational, this project will significantly help improve traffic safety levels,” said Faisal Al Suwaidi, director-general of the main roads division at the Department of Transport.
