Right-wing groups say they will go ahead with a “free speech” rally in Bos­ton this week­end, de­spite fears of vi­o­lence. The city’s mayor, Marty Walsh, said they would not be wel­come, but at least 4,000 peo­ple in­di­cated on Face­book that they planned to at­tend. The fate of the statue at the cen­tre of the row in Char­lottesville re­mains un­clear. The de­ci­sion to or­der its re­moval has been chal­lenged in the courts and the case con­tin­ues. Another statue of a Con­fed­er­ate soldier in Durham, North Carolina, was top­pled by pro­test­ers this week.
