Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing celebrates a win
Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing’s team celebrated winning the Volvo Ocean Race trophy at home in Abu Dhabi after the final awards ceremony held in Gothenburg, Sweden, over the summer. Emirati sailor Adil Khalid was pictured with the large trophy in Abu Dhabi, and later presented it, along with skipper Ian Walker, to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nayhan, Chairman TCA Abu Dhabi after their victory on the race.
These celebrations at home were made after the final awards ceremony on June 27, 2015 in Gothenburg. The Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 is the 12th running of this ocean marathon. Starting from Alicante in Spain on October 04, 2014, the route, spanning some 39,379 nautical miles, visited 11 ports in eleven countries (Spain, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, China, New Zealand, Brazil, United States, Portugal, France, The Netherlands and Sweden) over nine months. The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s premier ocean yacht race for professional racing crews.
