Davidoff opens the doors to its redesigned Flagship Store in Basel.
Davidoff opened the dors of its new Flagship Store in the heart of Basel earlier this summer, with a redesigned interior that reflects the company’s history, as well as looks to the future.
According to Davidoff, the Flagship Store was designed in accordance with the new globally standardised concept “Davidoff of Geneva—since 1911”.
“We are delighted to open our new Flagship Store in our hometown of Basel. The challenge in designing this unique cigar shop was to preserve the company’s history while continuing our mission to delight and surprise our customers worldwide by delivering unique brands and unrivalled retail experiences,” said Hans-kristian Hoejsgaard, CEO of Oettinger Davidoff AG.
“This particular Flagship Store is very important in our points-of-sale network and marks a new trend in our establishment in the Swiss market. The official opening on June 11, 2015 is certainly one of those very special moments in life that merit taking the time to celebrate and enjoy the very best,” added Albert Manzone, senior vice president for Europe at Oettinger Davidoff AG.
The new store, in the historical building at Rheinsprung 5/Eisengasse boasts around 128 sq m of space, including a 21 sq m walk-in humidor. The 40 sq m modern cigar lounge, meanwhile, is decorated with Bohemian glass pieces from Dechem studio and with art work from Mónica Ferreras de la Maza, and Jorge Pineda, who were the first Dominican artists to collaborate with Davidoff and its art program, the Davidoff Art Initiative.
The store, overlooking the river Rhein, has been transformed into a retail space thatis at once elegant, contemporary, and warm. It features a unique lounge full of ambiance, where customers can relax. Its exclusive interior design has been realised in partnership with Poltrona Frau, and combines the Dezza model from the 1960s, original lounge chairs from 1919 (used by cigar aficionados in the 1920s), the “Albero” library furniture by Frattini (a reissue of the 1950s models) with the famous chandelier Light Forest from Ontwerpduo.
Fifteen private lockers fitted with humidors will be available for VIP customers to store their cigars in perfect condition.
