hello, and welcome to the autumn/winter season, which obviously in the Middle East means a return to normality after the summer break. It also means the start of event season, and in that regard, we've already kicked things into high gear.
September saw us take on two major events. Habanos used Dubai as the regional launchpad for its new Montecristo Media Corona, which is now a permanent part of the brand's Linea Clasica. A tasting event was put on at La Casa del Habano in Dubai, so that the city's connoisseurs could sample the delights of this pocket rocket. We've review the cigar, and the night, in full on p56.
The other September event was the latest in our series of Connoisseurs' Nights, and it saw us sample another new release from Habanos. Held at the latest Roberto Rella restaurant in Dubai, Tre, we sampled the brand new Partagas Maduro No.1, a limited release exclusive to La Casa del Habano outlets. You can find out what we thought of the new stick on p44.
It's a good job that we're testing these new smokes now, because before long, we'll be sampling a raft of new Habanos, which will be announced at the next Festival del Habano, taking place at the end of February. It might seem like a while away, but we're already gearing up for it, and our resident Habanos expert Simon Chase has used his column this month to muse on what we might expect from the 2016 edition of the event. Head to p50 for the inside information.
In other news, over the past two months, we've sampled the delights of the Baros Hotel in the Maldives (p72), investigated cool city living in Boston, USA (76), and taken in the mesmerising sights and sounds of Tokyo (p68). We've also road-tested the fabulous new Bentley Mulsanne Speed, as well as the Infiniti Q70, which is a little more interesting than you might think.
Elsewhere, we've gone big on style this month. We've interviewed the founder and chief designer of the first genuine Emirati luxury fashion brand, Feathers Fashion, and we've spoken to the style experts at Mrporter.com to understand the top style tips for autumn and winter 2015. So, not only are we sampling the latest cigars going into the new season, but hopefully we'll also be looking great while doing so.
