All the Ac­tion from this year’s Puro sa­bor fes­ti­val del tabaco in nicaragua

Cigar Con­nois­seurs from around the world last month de­scended on es­telí, the nicaraguan cap­i­tal of to­bacco, for the fifth Puro sa­bor fes­ti­val del Tabaco, which ran from Jan­uary 12 to 16.

on the first day, guests were wel­comed at the air­port´s VIP lounge, be­fore set­tling into ho­tels and get­ting a feel for their stun­ning sur­round­ings. The fes­ti­val started in earnest on the se­cond day, which in­volved cul­ture, his­tory, art and flavours.

Vis­i­tors trav­elled to Chichi­galpa, the cra­dle town for the best nicaraguan rum and world-class brand flor de Caña. Later on dur­ing the day they vis­ited farm el rosario, which of­fered a suit­able en­vi­ron­ment to en­joy a par­ing of to­bacco and Cen­te­nario rum. To close the day, guests headed to the venue ho­tel to ex­pe­ri­ence what or­gan­is­ers called “Puro Humo”, a top-notch tast­ing night.

The third day in­volved a tour of es­telí.

Lunch was pro­vided in front of a gor­geous panoramic view at the Tav­i­cusa fac­tory plan­ta­tions, where the Rocky Pa­tel brand comes to life. Af­ter­wards came a grand tour of the fac­to­ries where the best Nicaraguan cigars are cre­ated: AJ Fer­nan­dez, Drew Es­tate To­bacco Com­pany S.A, Joya de Nicaragua, My Father, Nicaraguan Amer­i­can Cigars S.A, Oliva Cigars, Padrón, Pensa, Plasen­cia, Procen­icsa, and Scan­di­na­vian To­bacco Group.

As night fell, the tra­di­tional White Party be­gan. It was a joy­ful and tra­di­tional Trova Mu­sic Night, where guests had the chance

to wear the fes­ti­val’s of­fi­cial guayabera shirt, pro­duced by Nicaraguan hands.

The fourth day saw fur­ther tours, this time of plan­ta­tions and fac­to­ries. The day be­gan with a tour of the ma­jes­tic plan­ta­tions of the re­gion, en­gag­ing di­rectly with the grow­ing process of the to­bacco plant. Lunch took place at a site that was a sin­gle step away from where tal­ented Nicaraguan hands build cigars.

For the evening, or­gan­is­ers pre­pared a pleas­ant talk with Nicaraguan to­bacco leg­ends so that guests could learn about the his­tory of the coun­try’s cigar pi­o­neers, new mar­ket trends and the econ­omy of the in­dus­try.

At night, the fab­u­lous Din­ner Gala took place, and it was the ideal show­case for the el­e­gance and pride of Nicaragua’s to­bacco in­dus­try. There was also an auc­tion for spe­cial prod­ucts de­signed ex­clu­sively for the fes­ti­val, with the goal of sup­port­ing the most needed pop­u­la­tion of Es­telí.
