In March, Dubai-based cigar aficionados were treated to an extremely special evening. baqer Mohebi enterprises, the distributor of arturo Fuente cigars, hosted an event celebrating the Fuente brand at the ritz-carlton, Dubai International Financial centre (DIFC). More than 100 fans of the brand attended the event, held at the hotel’s sunken Garden venue, which turned out to be the perfect setting for the live Latin music and live cigar rolling.

along with these festivities, there were three Fuente cigars on offer—the Don carlos, the chateau Fuente and the Fuente Fuente Forbidden X. What’s more, guests were treated to a special appearance from carlos P. Fuente Jr., President of arturo Fuente cigars, who flew in from Miami to meet the region’s fans of the brand.

The venue

Like the many galleries that surround it, The ritz-carlton DIFC displays its passion for art and the area’s status as an important culture destination with its own rotating international collection. connoisseurs can also meet artists of local renown in the city’s emerging art community. From the mesmerising crystal branches that highlight the hotel ceiling to the chicago-influenced art deco design, the visual craftsmanship draws guests in to a very unique sense of place.

This sense of occasion also applies to the sunken Garden, an alfresco venue for drinks, cocktails and light evening meals. surrounded by a serene landscape of palm trees and a dramatic water fountain, the venue is well known for offering guests a selection of over 30 flavors of shisha. how-

The cigars

The first cigar of the evening was the Arturo Fuente Don Carlos. To create this stick, Carlos Fuente, Sr. blended together rare, vintage tobaccos that were hand selected and aged as much as 10 years. These cigars are rich and flavorful, with African Cameroon wrappers. These cigars are released in limited quantities and are among the finest cigars rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente in the

Dominican Republic.

A rich, African Cameroon wrapper over vintage Dominican filler give way to flavors both complex and refined. The slightly sweet flavor produced by the select African Cameroon wrapper is in perfect balance with the savory aroma. Flawless construction, a hallmark of Tabacalera A. Fuente, ensures an even burn and smooth draw.

The second cigar was the Chateau Fuentes, inspired by the Chateau de la Fuente, home of the Arturo Fuente tobacco plantation. Each creation is blended from the Fuente family’s private reserve of aged tobacco and rolled to the perfect shape and size. Available in both a silky Connecticut shade wrapper, and the more robust Ecuadorian sungrown wrapper, Chateau Fuente cigars are aged to perfection before being individually wrapped in their signature cedar sleeve.

Finally, guests were treated to the Fuente Fuente Forbidden X, a line that was born in mystery.these sticks are hand crafted by only the best of the best cigar rollers in the business. These artisans work their craftsmanship in the Forbidden Room at the family farm, Chateau de la Fuente, off limits to everyone else but Don Carlos and Carlito. In this secret room, these torcedors are handed a secret blend of seven distinctive tobaccos, each hand-selected from among the primings of the most flavourful leaves grown in the rich, fertile soil of Dominican Republic’s best lands. Each variety of tobacco adds flavor and complexity to the finished product, so that the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts.
