the presentation of the first Reserva from the Hoyo de Monterrey brand, in its iconic Epicure No 2 vitola (50 x 124 mm), which is a symbol of the brand and one of the most popular Habanos vitolas worldwide. Until now, Hoyo de Monterrey was the only global Habanos brand that had not yet presented a Reserva or a Gran Reserva.
To prepare this Reserva, all the leaves making up the Habano (filler, binder and wrapper) have undergone a long and careful three-year aging process. This is a unique and exclusive production of 5,000 numbered cases, which represent the absolute excellence of the brand and which will certainly be enthusiastically received by Habanos enthusiasts.
Epicure No 2 is undoubtedly one of the Robustos most recognised and appreciated by Habanos smokers. This is a trend format, which unites the brand’s most recognised characteristics such as the softness of its blend and its sweet, delicate and aromatic character, to give this Habano incredible elegance and complexity. Habanos also used this year’s festival to unveil the new Cohiba Medio Siglo, which comes with a 52 ring gauge and a length of 102 mm. The launch will be incorporated into the brand’s regular portfolio in Línea 1492, marking the 50th Anniversary of Cohiba, launched in 1966.
The new Medio Siglo features a completely new vitola in the range of sizes of Habanos, its dimensions being a tribute to two other classic vitolas in Línea 1492. The Cohiba Medio Siglo has the 52 ring gauge (20.64 mm) of the Cohiba Siglo VI and the length (102 mm) of the Cohiba Siglo I, leading to a modern, small format Habano that is completely new for the brand, with a smoking time of around 30 minutes and the medium strength flavour that characterises Línea 1492.
It should also be highlighted that this represents the first launch within Línea 1492 since 2002, when the Cohiba Siglo VI was presented. With this launch, Cohiba strengthens its offer in smaller formats, and offers its smokers an interesting vitola in line with current trends. The Medio Siglo will be released in two presentations - a 25-unit Slide Lid Box (SLB) and a three-unit aluminium tube in a case. Menahwhile, H. Upmann’s line was given a boost with the Magnum 54, a completely new vitola which is incorporated into the brand’s regular portfolio and which will become the third vitola in Línea Magnum, after the classic Magnum 46 and Magnum 50, presented in 2008.
