Power of the falcon

VACHERON CONSTANTIN UNVEILS THE METIERS D’ART GYR, A LIMITED EDITION FOR THE GULF

VACHERON CONSTANTIN RECENTLY USED Jewellery Arabia 2016 in Bahrain to launch the Métiers d’art Gyr, a striking timepiece that depicts one of the most iconic symbols of Arab culture, the Falcon.

The watch is an addition to the Métiers d’art collection and an homage to Middle Eastern cultural heritage. Showcasing a handcrafted falcon, the limited edition pays tribute to the heritage of the Gulf area while celebrating a bright future and will be solely available in Vacheron Constantin boutiques in the GCC.

Bearing the Hallmark of Geneva, the watch, realised in 10 models only, combines the Calibre 2460 G4 with the beauty of artistic crafts. The 2460 G4 makes it possible to create a distinctive and ideal stage-setting for the decorative arts, by giving the central dial motif a starring role.

The hands-free time display is achieved through four apertures showing the hours, minutes, days and dates. These indications—the first two of the dragging variety and the last two of the jumping type—proudly embody the longstanding savoir-faire of the Maison in designing and developing original displays. Clearly visible through the sapphire crystal back of the platinum case, the 22-carat gold oscillating weight is adorned with a recurrent Islamic pattern tapisserie inspired by the architecture of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
