H. UPMANN UNVEIL THE NEW SIR WINSTON GRAN RESERVA 2011 IN HAVANA

Virtuozity - - Brand -

FOR THE FIRST TIME in the company’s history, H. Upmann have released a Gran Reserva, which will be presented in a unique and exclusive production of 5,000 numbered cases. The Sir Winston Gran Reserva 2011 uses wrapper, binder and filler that have undergone an extensive five-year aging process.

Unveiled at the recent XIX Habano Festival in Cuba, the launch inaugurates the Gran Reserva concept for the brand after having leaves making up the Habano underwent a five-year aging process which releases tannins that give the tobacco leaves a rounder, sweeter and more aromatic flavour.

Each of the 5,000 cases will have 20 Habanos and will be presented in exquisite packing that characterises the Gran Reserva. The case features an elegant black lacquer finish as well as the brand and the concept’s seal printed in gold on the lid.

Made completely by hand with long members of the National Tasting Commission – came together with experts from the Cuban tobacco industry and Habanos, S.A.

The Sir Winston (47 x 178 mm) has long been one of the best known Habanos appreciated by enthusiasts around the world with its Julieta No 2 vitola. Appreciated for it’s long and pleasant smoking format, the latest addition to the collection continues to combine the soft to medium strength flavour with the delicate and aromatic character that the aging of its leaves provides.

The Sir Winston Gran Reserva 2011 further strengthens the portfolio of H. Upmann and Habanos, S.A. who presented their first Reserva back in 2003 when they launched the Cohiba Selección Reserva Cosecha 1999.

Six years later they introduced the first Habanos Gran Reserva with the vitola chosen for the inauguration of this concept being the emblematic Siglo VI Cohiba, Cosecha 2003.

Now H. Upmann, which is the oldest and most prestigious Habanos brand, are entering the Gran Reserva market. Founded back in 1844, the company has become characterised by its soft to medium strength flavour.

They have continuously added to their portfolio, having last year added a new Magnum 54 (54 x 120 mm) to their range, as well as several small vitolas such as the Coronas Junior (36 x 115 mm) and Half Corona (44 x 90 mm). This year they will also strengthen their line-up with the release of the Connossieur B (54 x 150 mm), which will be distributed exclusively through the La Casa del Habano network and Habanos specialists stores.
