THERE’S SOMETHING VERY special about spending time in Cuba. The Latin-american county is full of charm thanks to its colourful colonial architecture and never-ending parade of classic cars. It is also home to some of the finest cigar brands in the world, which is why we simply could not miss the famed Habano Festival.
During that week in Havana we were shown the art of rolling, given tours of the factories and plantations, and of course handed the opportunity to sample the latest releases from Habanos. All of which you can read about from page 44 as we round up events from the 19th edition of the festival.
Soon after returning from Cuba we were able to make the most of the warmer weather in the Middle East with an event at Marina Social. With breathtaking views of Dubai Marina there are few better spots to enjoy a good smoke. And what’s more, the chosen cigars were expertly paired with choice cuts of beef and the finest whiskey.
Fortunately, the weather also remained fair for the 25th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show. We were on hand to speak to Gulf Craft about their latest releases and learn more about how their stunning yachts are handcrafted at their facility in Umm al-quwain. We were also invited on-board the magnificent 77 metre Silverfast - the largest vessel on show in Dubai - which you can read about on page 78.
Elsewhere, we’ve delved into the world of the secret agent by visiting the James Bond exhibition at the Burj Khalifa (page 18) and felt just like 007 himself by test driving the new Aston Martin DB11 on home turf in England (page 80). We also sampled island life in the Middle East by visiting the ultra luxurious Zaya hotel which is located on Nurai Island in Abu Dhabi (page 70).
It’s certainly been a busy few months and despite the fact that summer is fast approaching, we won’t be slowing down.
There is still plenty to enjoy across the Middle East, so until next time, happy smoking.
