This season’s Abu Dhabi Classics line-up has been announced

Abu Dhabi Classics is back, and it’ll showcase musical talents from all over the world for its eighth year, with events taking place at Emirates Palace, Manarat Al Saadiyat and in Al Ain.

The 2018/19 Abu Dhabi Classics season kicks off on October 12 and runs into next May, and the line-up includes a debut performance in the UAE by the Camerata Salzburg Orchestra. Joining the Austrian stars on stage will be French classical violinist Renaud Capuçon. This will be the first time they have appeared in Abu Dhabi and they will perform Mozart’s Violin Concertos 4 and 5.

French harpist Xavier de Maistre will also make his UAE debut on December 6 at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island and December 7 at Bin Hamoodah Fort, Al Ain.

Maistre’s first Harp recital, Spanish Nights, will include works from legendary Spanish pianists and composers Isaac Albéniz, Enrique Granados and Manuel de Falla. For his second performance, Maistre will perform works inspired by Spanish classical music and French composer Claude Debussy.

Last year’s event featured performances from Alia Al Neyadi, the first Emirati ballerina, and South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho.
