Warehouse Gym opens by the beach
Rows of treadmills, stacks of weights, unpleasant harsh lighting… all gyms start to feel the same after a while, but some are switching up the game. Case in point: the new Warehouse Gym at the beach with two floors of snazzy equipment, a terrace for sparring, a coffee shop run by Tom and Serg, and a separate seaside gym set to rival California’s Muscle Beach.
The gym
The first Warehouse Gym in Al Quoz has become the city’s mega muscle magnet. It’s huge, kind of dark and very raw. In contrast, its new beachside location feels more like a smart boutique gym. The entrance looks like an illuminated catwalk and the gym itself is split into two: downstairs houses upper body machines, and upstairs focuses on lower body equipment. There’s a terrace used for boxing training, and a spinning room (hosted by 1SIX8 trainers). Members who sign up to the beachside gym (basic membership starts at Dhs499 per month) also get access to the Al Quoz Warehouse, Muscle Beach and vice versa. Personal training sessions are also available, starting at Dhs1,500 for five sessions. The more you buy, the cheaper it is.
The café
Even if there weren’t a huge ‘Common Grounds’ sign above the deli counter, you’d know it was the work of Tom and Serg. Decked out in pine, with signature CG treats on display, and a full-blown coffee machine set up in the back, it’s as if a little chunk of the Mall Of The Emirates outlet has been plonked right there on the beach.
The Muscle Beach
Your fitness regime should have no limits, so it makes sense to hit up a gym with no walls where you can really go all out – that’s the mantra for Warehouse’s very own Muscle Beach. Essentially a giant playground for fitness enthusiasts, the space is an extension of the main gym. Circuits, CrossFit and boxing group classes are all held there on the shoreline.
