Look into the shadows
Catch a performance of Shadowland at Dubai World Trade Centre
Fancy a night of theatre that’s a little outside the box? Then you’ll want a front-row seat at Shadowland, a multimedia experience coming to the Dubai World Trade Centre this month.
Part shadow act, part dance, part circus and part concert, the show is considered the first of its kind to blend multimedia, shadow theatre, storytelling, and ballet. Expect to see multiple moving screens of different sizes and shapes, projected images and frontof-screen choreography.
A coming-of-age love story, Shadowland tells the tale of a young girl who wakes at night to find her shadow lurking behind her bedroom wall – she heads off on a journey to Shadowland searching for a way out.
The show has been touring globally for several years and has performed in Abu Dhabi before, and will be making its debut in the emirate with a three-night run and two performances per day.
The production is a collaboration between US dance company Pilobolus, in collaboration with Steven Banks, lead writer for television cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. American musician, producer and film composer Davie Poe is behind the production’s score. In total, Shadowland has been watched by more than one million people in some 30 countries worldwide.
