Mini John CooperWorks GP
This is the
world’s fastest ever production Mini, and exactly as that notion suggests, it’s appropriately mental. Step into this strutbraced steroidal lunatic, and it’s immediately apparent how focused the Mini John Cooper Works GP is. It only comes in one spec, with a six-speed manual gearbox, no rear seats, special lightweight wheels, and exclusive paint and graphics. Its almost complete lack of luxury equipment means it’s significantly cheaper than a regular John CooperWorks model, and the 218bhp afforded by the turbocharged 1.6-litre four-pot makes it loonier as well. Zero to 100kph takes 6.3 seconds, but its trump card is in its crisp turn-in and composed handling. Seldom before has the ‘go-kartlike handling’ cliché been more appropriate.
