Quantum Break ( XBOX ONE)

What would you do if you had the power to manipulate time? Well, I’d thank the heavens every day — and save the world when need be.

That’s exactly what you do as Jack Joyce in Quantum Break from Remedy Entertainment and Microsoft Studios. The Xbox One- exclusive third- person shooter game is sure to make time fly.

The storyline is pretty interesting: Jack’s best friend, Paul Serene, gets his time machine experiment all wrong, thereby blessing — or cursing — both of them with “chronon radiation”, which gives them time- based abilities. Paul, with a higher dose of chronon radiation, can see into the future, which he uses before he makes key decisions. Turns out that Paul, who is also the boss at Monarch Solutions, has a rather sinister plan to bring about the “End of Time”. You, as Jack, must stop him.

The controls are that of your typical third- person shooter game, but the real highlights are your time- based abilities, such as stopping bullets ( and returning them), dashing to evade enemies and, of course, stopping time.

The story gets more intriguing as it goes on. You’ll probably feel the anxiety flow when you literally race against time — both forward and backward — to rectify things, from saving Jack’s estranged brother Will to helping your apparent sweetheart Beth Wilder! We already can’t wait for a sequel. ( Dh269; 9/ 10)
