SUPERNOVA

-

£99.95 www.adidas.co.uk

At 350g the Supernova is easily the heaviest on test. Everything here screams robust, from the solid plastic reinforcement in the heel counter to the very grippy sole, courtesy of Continental. The huge heel tab is unusual, so it’s important the shoes fit to avoid rubbing over the Achilles. Running in the Supernovas (particularly after wearing a lighter pair in our back-to-back test) feels like you have a pair of fluffy pillows on your feet. Adidas claim ‘the more energy you give, the more you get’ out of their Boost cushioning; we’d claim the polar opposite, as we found that the weight is really noticeable as you ramp up the speed. We’ve serious questions about the benefits of Boost technology and would question its racing credentials, but the shoe is certainly built to last.
