HYPERION

The Hyperion debuted in summer 2016, and is the lightest, most speedfocused shoe in Brooks’ line-up. A 10mm midsole drop is quite big for a shoe this light (210g); yet as there’s so little rubber underfoot the extra heel-totoe movement protects you from pounding too much. The upper is sock-like but quite flimsy, and we found some creasing where it met the toebox that could cause blistering, particularly for sockless running. The heel has an acute curved construction, which provides some support and makes for a precise fit. The outsole doesn’t provide much grip, and was compromised on any sharp turns, wet or ice. The Hyperions are suitable for pure road racing, assuming you have a dead neutral gait and are a competitive runner/triathlete looking for a PB.
