220 Triathlon

NO BARRIERS

-

I enclose a picture [above] of me during the bike section of my first, very short introduction to a triathlon event. I am without a doubt a complete beginner, not just to triathlon but to any of the three disciplines. I’ve just learnt how to clip in to pedals, I swim with my head out of the water and I can just about manage 2.5 miles in a very slow run. But I find myself loving trying to get better. And I loved the GoTri I took part in despite coming last. I didn’t care at all, though, because I finished it.

I recognise my limitations, I’ve never been athletic and I certainly don’t look the part. I also have a string of chronic health challenges, including ME and asthma. But I’m determined to do my best and with that in mind I’ve signed up to take on the Long Course Weekend next year. I have 10 months to train and I’m so determined to complete the event. I’m not a competitive person so I tell myself I’m going to complete not compete.

I really wanted to thank 220 for helping me feel that, despite my challenges, there are no barriers to achieving my goal that I can’t take down with hard work, dedication, knowledge and support. Keep the amazing content coming. Jan Bower 220 replies: Excellent job, Jan. We’re thrilled to support you every stroke, pedal and step of the way, and hope your story inspires others to tri.
