Endurance bike shoes

220 Triathlon Magazine - - KIT ZONE -

We alternate our tri race and training kit depending on conditions and distance, but the Shimano R260 SPD-SL bike shoes have remained constant for the past few seasons. This version is currently heavily reduced online but, given we’ve used them loads, we’d have no qualms paying full price for Shimano’s current RP9 or cheaper RP3 offerings. The main draw is the massive comfort that’s provided by the (heat-mouldable) insoles, soft upper and the ratchet fastener, and we’ve experienced no rubbing – yet plenty of security – with the trio of straps. The carbon outsoles give good power transfer, and breathability and drainage have never been a problem. We like the black versions, but some will prefer the white. MB madi
