The lightest of all on test, the minimal weight of the Inov-8 Windshell really is impressive. We were amazed that such a lightweight fabric still provides great protection, but with a weightless shell feel that also offered plenty of breathability. The roll-away hood is a useful feature, yet even on runs with the hood out we didn’t notice any major flapping. Although elasticated at the top, the hood didn’t stay on our head for long while running, even with the jacket zipped all the way up. The jacket easily and quickly packs away in its own pocket so saves vital room in your run backpack. The elasticated sleeves with thumb holes and bottom hem prevent any major movement, but this did cause the jacket to billow in the middle and it didn’t sit flush to our body. In terms of water-resistance, light rain beaded in drops on the jacket and didn’t soak through. It’s also available in red and orange.
