The thickest of all the jackets on test, the Gore, as the name suggests, is extremely windproof but still breathable. The durable outer layer is good in the wet and the reflective elements on the front, back and side help with visibility on darker runs. We weren’t keen on the pink version here and much preferred the look of the black and grey versions available, but the slim fit gives it a modern look and the added bonus of zero flapping mid-run. The removable sleeves and hood make it versatile, while the easily adjustable hood stayed up during the test. Both front pockets are zipped so essentials can be stored; we were impressed with the media pocket with cable outlet, but our phone felt heavy without thicker pocket seams. The snug cuffs have thumbholes, but they pulled during our runs, and if the jacket isn’t zipped all the way up, the high, fleece-trimmed collar gets in the way.
