DHB AERON

£120 Mid-level tri-suit

-

We’d been aware of Dhb’s plans to launch the Aeron tri-suit range for some time (there’s also a £160 Lab), but they’ve snuck out mid-season (and the Aeron is already reduced to £90 online). It’s targeted at ‘competitive’ athletes racing sprint to Ironman, but we feel it doesn’t hit the mark in a number of areas. The mesh panels on the back and rear provide plenty of ventilation but are too permeable for a pool/non-wetsuit swim; the pockets are large enough for iron racing but provide too much drag in the water; and the lean pad, while optimised for the tri-bar position and invisible on the swim and run, just doesn’t offer enough comfort when riding on the hoods for extended periods. Finally, the bottom half is mostly made from quite thick nylon so struggles for breathability, and is already showing wear. wiggle.co.uk
