During these warm summer nights, when you are still sleeping above your covers, with the windows thrown open, layering up your bed for cooler autumn days may be the last thing on your mind – and justifably so. But this folksy floral scheme might be just the thing to change your mind, and find you seeking out some similarly bohemian bedlinen.
Stripped down to just a white sheet and pillows for summer, this room would feel fresh and pretty, but by dressing the bed with mismatched cushions and a floral paisley print quilt, the room is transformed into a riot of colour that still feels calm and restrained thanks to the white floorboards and the clean, modern lines of the bedside table. The blowsy, painterly blooms on the wallpaper make a bold statement, and prevent the room looking too old-fashioned, as it would with a smaller, more ditsy print on the walls.
With the white floor, bold walls, crisp linen and rattan headboard as a base, this room could be styled in plenty of ways, from keeping the bedding plain for a more neutral look, all the way to piling on the florals and prints. Just be sure to add a bedside posy of whatever the garden has to offer, to keep a connection with nature.
