There are car mod­els. And then there is the Amal­gam 1948 356A Speedster. For starters, it's big, as in 'uu­uge thanks to its 1:8 scale pro­por­tions. All told, it clocks in at well over half a me­tre in length. It's also hand crafted and fin­ished. Then there are the ma­te­ri­als. The body is high qual­ity polyurethane pro­to­typ­ing resin. That's com­bined with a range of real-world ma­te­ri­als in­clud­ing nat­u­ral wood, al­loys, stain­less steel, leather and pewter. It's even fin­ished with Porsche-spec­i­fied paints. All in, Amal­gam says it takes nearly 400 hours to com­plete the model and the re­sult is a quite breath­tak­ing level of de­tail. That's just as well given the £8735 base price.
