What hap­pened to sub­tlety and style? Look­ing at the GT2 RS and the cur­rent GT3 RS, they look like they've come straight from one the Ger­man tun­ing out­fits. If some­one stuck a Gem­balla badge on the GT2 RS, no one would be sur­prised, what with the wings, scoops and mas­sive wheels. They might make for an amaz­ing time round the ’Ring, but all that stuff makes an amaz­ingly ugly and testos­terone laden car, that most folk wouldn't be seen dead in.

Of the mod­ern GT Porsches, the orig­i­nal 996 GT3 still works best. Nar­row body, el­e­gant 'swan neck' rear wing, 18in wheels. Per­fect. Barry Wil­ton, via email
