Plot holders celebrated at prestigious flower show
BAXENDEN allotment holders have helped to create a garden display at RHS Flower Show in Tatton Park.
The ‘Allotmentary’ display is an allotment and vegetable exhibition showcasing the hard work of many green-fingered volunteers and groups, working under the banner of Hyndburn Federation of Allotments.
The allotment display at Tatton is the culmination of many months of work by volunteers from organisations including Baxenden Allotments and Garden Society, Church Prospects Panel, Claytonle-Moors Prospects Panel, Hyndburn Green Spaces Forum, Sandy Lane Gardening Group, Incredible Edible and the council, which has been working together in Gatty Park greenhouses and allotments across the borough, growing vegetables and edible flowers for their garden at Tatton Show.
Cath Holmes, chairwoman of Hyndburn Federation of Allotments, is full of anticipation.
She said: “It’s been the biggest and best yet.
“This year’s display is all about promoting the benefits to mental health and general wellbeing of allotmenteering and growing. A big thank you to our sponsors and to everyone who has given their time, support and expertise.”
