FRED BROWN

MR Fred Brown, of Church View Nursing Home, Princess Street, Accrington, formerly of Warmden Avenue, passed away on Monday, June 12, aged 87.

He passed away peacefully at Church View, whose staff have the family’s gratitude for their care and respect of Fred.

Most of, if not all of his working life was spent at English Electric, Clayton, where he was a contract manager – and where his wife Ruth also worked for many years.

In his youth he was a keen racing cyclist, and he had an interest in most sports generally. He was a member of Bank Terrace Masonic Lodge, Accrington for more than 40 years.

He lived in Warmden Avenue, Baxenden for 50 years. He was husband of late wife Ruth, who passed in 2010, to whom he was married for more than 50 years.

His funeral service will be held at 12.15pm on Friday, June 23, at St John’s, Baxenden, administered by Rev Tom Donaghey, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 1pm.
