Police plea to name and shame moto riders
POLICE are appealing for the public’s help to identify ‘anti-social’ motorbike and moped riders.
Officers say numerous complaints have been made about speeding and ‘dangerous’ drivers on St Cecelia Street, Cross Street, Hameldon View and Alan Ramsbottom Way in Great Harwood.
Pc Dave Render said they can issue section 59 warning letters for the anti-social use of a motor vehicle or seize it under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act if they can identify the offenders.
He said: “We are having quite a lot of calls in relation to anti-social bikes and quads in Great Harwood. We are aware of the problems in the area and people can contact us on 101 or through social media. If anyone has any registration numbers then we will follow them up.
“We have got descriptions but we need registrations to prosecute.
“One resident told me that not only is it causing a noise nuisance down there, they are a danger to children who play on the street and it won’t be long before someone is knocked down.”
