Stan­ley Com­mu­nity Trust’s ‘ex­cit­ing plans’

A CHAR­ITY which has raised £2mil­lion for projects and pro­grammes across Hyn­d­burn has un­veiled new plans as it cel­e­brates its sev­enth birth­day.

Ac­cring­ton Stan­ley Com­mu­nity Trust (ASCT) has en­gaged with a ‘stag­ger­ing’ 10,000 peo­ple in the last 12 months and last year won the Hyn­d­burn Com­mu­nity Busi­ness of the Year Award.

Char­ity bosses say they have ‘en­joyed un­prece­dented growth in all ar­eas’ and now em­ploy 11 full-time staff from the lo­cal area, with a fur­ther 15 part-time mem­bers.

ASCT are also be­hind plans for a new £2m com­mu­nity sports hub at Higham’s Play­ing Fields.

Martin Fearon, chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer, said: “It has been a great jour­ney over the past seven years and we con­tinue to go from strength to strength. We are an award-win­ning char­ity that makes a pos­i­tive im­pact in our com­mu­nity and we want to build on this over the next 12 months. We have some ex­cit­ing plans next year which in­clude a range of new sport and ed­u­ca­tion pro­vi­sion as well as a brand new sports hub.”

The trust has also se­cured fund­ing from the Premier League, Na­tional Lot­tery and Sport Eng­land for ‘new and ex­ist­ing projects’.
