Accrington Observer - - LOOKING BACK -

THE pantomime ‘Babes in the Wood’ was performed to a sell-out crowd at Ash Street Parish School in Great Harwood.

More than 200 people watched the show in the 1970s, which was jointly presented by the ACME Youth Club and junior members of St Bartholomew’s church, pictured above.

The performers included Rosalyn Marsh as Robin Hood, Judith Aldred as Maid Marion, Ann Chippendale, Andrew Hope and Mark Rogers.

Darts, dominoes and table tennis competitions were played at Green Haworth Golf Club, centre, and were won by Marion Eccles, Jim Booth and Chris Best respectively.

The Parent Teachers Association of St Charles’ Primary School in Rishton came up with a popular way of raising school funds, right.

A ‘Keep Fit to Music’ class was held in the school hall with exercises done to pop and more serious records.
