A MASKED man armed with a kitchen knife robbed a Bargain Booze shop before being chased down the street by members of the public.

Police said the offender, who had his face covered, targeted the store on Union Road in Oswaldtwistle at around 9.15pm on Sunday, October 8.

He demanded money from the female shop assistant. Officers said the victim opened the till and handed over ‘a couple of hundreds of pounds’.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “A couple of members of the public then chased the offender but he made off.”

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. The store declined to comment when contacted by the Observer. Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log number 1637 of October 8.
