Anger as youths pelt crews with fireworks
A FIRE crew was attacked with fireworks while attending a callout.
Firefighters were called out at around 9.25pm on Tuesday, October 31 to Matalan retail park in Accrington. As they were putting out a bonfire, they said a group of around 20 ‘teenagers’ began launching fireworks. No crew members were hurt, but the attack has been condemned as dangerous and ‘nonsensical’. A fire service spokesperson said: “Firefighters are there to save lives and rescue properties.”
By the time police arrived on the scene, the group of youths had left. No arrests were made.
