Accrington Observer - - LOOKING BACK -

AN orchestral concert organised by the Moorhead Music Society attracted an audience of more than 160 people.

The picture, above right, was taken in 1976 by former Observer photographer Garth Dawson and shows members of Moorhead High School’s madrigal group, the QC Singers, with conductor Malcolm White.

Great Harwood’s Mercer Hall Baths was alive with ‘Otters’ as members of the swimming club held their 10th annual gala,

right. More than 100 swimmers took part and about 150 people attended.

A presentation of money to help disabled Guides and Brownies was made by the Brownies of Church Kirk.

Deborah Mitchell handed the money to the regional extension advisor for North West England, Elizabeth Bromley, at St Nicholas’ Junior School in Church, above left. The Brownies raised £11.50.

Our final picture this week, top, shows members of the Accrington Naturalists and Antiquarians Society celebrating its 120th anniversary.
