Superheroes spring into action for school funds run

-

PUPILS donned colourful fancy dress outfits for a fun run around the school field.

Children from Peel Park primary school in Accrington wore an array of costumes, including characters from Star Wars, superheroes, witches and pumpkins.

The whole school ran laps around the field over two days to raise money for school funds.

Finley Rosbotham, who has cerebral palsy, took up his ‘biggest challenge yet’ by dressing up as a bear for the sponsored fun run.

The eight-year-old from Accrington, who was told that he may never walk or talk again when he was initially diagnosed, ran an ‘incredible’ eight laps of the field with his sister Ellie.

Deputy headteacher Ben Spedding said everyone had a ‘great time’.

He said: “It was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday but because of the atrocious weather and bad conditions it was rescheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. It was in aid of raising funds and the whole school took part. It was just a lovely event. We wanted to give the children a chance to dress up and the parents really got on board and did some amazing costumes.”
