Students pack up caring side

Accrington Observer - - NEWS -

KIND-HEARTED students have teamed up with social care provider Maundy Relief to provide care packages to the Hyndburn community.

A group of Accrington Academy’s sixth form pupils created six care packages comprising food, bottled water and toiletries, all donated by themselves.

They then arranged to drop the packages off at Maundy Relief in Accrington where they were met by volunteer Gordon Dreghom who took the students on a tour of the charity’s various sites.

During the visit the students also took a ‘handson approach’ helping to serve lunch to Maundy Relief service users.

Year eight pupils also provided donations.

Nicola Palmer, Accrington Academy’s head of school, said: “Maundy Relief do an incredible job in and around Accrington and as a school at the heart of its community, we are pleased to have been able to lend our support.

“Well done and thank you to all those students who took part in what was a very worthwhile venture.”
