Please support remembrance events to salute fallen heroes from all conflicts

Accrington Observer - - YOUR VIEWS -

NOVEMBER is a month when our thoughts turn to remembrance of all those from our towns who have fought and fell in the two world wars and all the conflicts since.

Saturday is Armistice Day, when at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, we will join the Royal British Legion, to pause for two minutes and reflect on the sacrifices of our service men and women from conflicts past and present at the Cenotaph at Oakhill Park. Please join us if you can.

Remembrance Sunday, on November 12, is also a day traditionally set aside to remember all those who gave their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

People in Hyndburn and across the country will pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave service men and women and pay tribute to all those from our own townships who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Council is pleased to support the Royal British Legion and invite local people to the upcoming Remembrance Sunday events taking place right across the Borough on November 12.

Please support your local event, which will be marked with services and parades in each township in Hyndburn.

Please be aware that there is likely to be some delays in traffic flow during the parades.

Motorists are asked in particular to avoid Union Road, Oswaldtwistle between 2pm and 3.15pm, where a section of the road will be fully closed around the War Memorial during the service.

Please support your local event if you can to salute our fallen heroes from the First and Second World Wars and all the conflicts since. We will remember them.

Hyndburn Council leader Miles Parkinson
