AN 18-year-old man suf­fered ‘se­ri­ous’ in­juries after a fire­work ex­ploded in his hand on Bon­fire Night.

Po­lice were called to Steiner Street in Ac­cring­ton at around 8.20pm on Sun­day, Novem­ber 5.

Of­fi­cers said the teenager ad­mit­ted he had been ‘mess­ing around’ with the fire­work and had ‘held one in his hand for too long’.

He was taken to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment to se­ri­ous fin­ger in­juries.

No ar­rests have been made.


AC­CRING­TON Golf Club will hold its an­nual Christ­mas fair on Sun­day, Novem­ber 26.

The en­try fee is £2 for adults in­clud­ing mulled wine/mince pie.

Chil­dren get in free. It will run from 11am to 2pm, with Fa­ther Christ­mas in his grotto from noon to 1pm.

Food will be avail­able through­out the day.


AN au­tumn mu­sic con­cert will be held at Ac­cring­ton Town Hall.

The Black­burn Sym­phony Orches­tra will be per­form­ing a range of clas­si­cal mu­sic on Sun­day, Novem­ber 26, at 7.30pm.

Tick­ets cost £12 for adults and are free for chil­dren aged 18 and un­der.
