Photo display puts the focus on youth

Accrington Observer - - LOOKING BACK -

THE work of budding young photographers has gone on display at Haworth Art Gallery.

Pupils from The Hollins school were tasked with taking pictures in and around the Haworth from a ‘young person’s perspective’.

They also worked with members of the Accrington Camera Club to develop their skills.

Yvonne Robins, gallery manager, said they have been working on the project since January and have taken ‘some wonderfully creative photographs in and around the gallery, stable block and gardens’.

She said: “They also had the rare opportunity to go up onto the roof terrace to get up close to the Haworth’s infamous grotesques that look out over stunning views of the valley and hills.”

An exhibition launched with friends and family in the Education Room of the art gallery will stay on display until the end of April. The project is a joint venture between The Hollins Cohesion, the Creativity Initiative and the Friends of Haworth Accrington.

The gallery is open from noon to 4.45pm Tuesday to Friday and noon to 4.15pm Saturday and Sunday. Entry and parking is free.
