Garden surfing

Air Gunner - - Your Letters -

When it comes to back- garden shooting my take on safety is simple; a large soap-powder box, Surf is my favourite, filled with a week’s supply of the Daily Mirror, a paper target stuck on and hey presto. At 20 yards the pellets go in and don’t come out, and when the box starts getting tatty, just encourage ‘her indoors’ to do some extra washing. GERRY

Hello Gerry I use something similar behind my chronograph. It’s a cardboard box stuffed with all the junk newspapers that come through my letterbox. It traps the pellets nicely and I get no rebounds or splashes of lead, as I have in the past from metal pellet traps. This set up is free, easy to replace and so far, is the best solution I’ve found for my needs. I won’t be telling my wife about getting on with the washing though. Ed.

Is this the ultimate garden back stop?
