Solid start to the season for Drumpellie­r

Drumpellie­r Golf Club have got their new season off to a flyer with two wins from their opening two games.

Drumpy opened their campaign with a tremendous 4-1 victory away to Mount Ellen.

They followed that up with a solid 3-2 win on their home course against Kirkhill which leaves them top of the Lanarkshir­e Division Two league table.

The format of the league has changed this season with matches being switched to five four-ball matches instead of 10 singles ties.

Drumpy play Lanark away from home in their next team match and manager Kenny McLean said:“We are delighted with the start that we have made to our league campaign but there is a long way to go and every match will be tough.”

In other sporting news, Monklands ramblers’next adventure will see the club travel to England on June 3.

The ramblers will leave Airdrie at 8am to and take part in two hikes in the Lake District area.

One walk is a 7.5 mile walk from Scales to Threlkeld which is described as strenuous.

The other is an 8.5 mile trek from Threlkeld to Keswick which is more moderate.
