Plea after tool thefts
Coatbridge police have issued an appeal to help trace opportunistic thieves responsible for two separate tools thefts in the town.
On each occasion, the crooks swiped their loot from vans parked on the street and officers are keen to speak with any witnesses.
The first incident occurred on Nelson Avenue in the Old Monkland area in May.
This was followed by tool boxes being stolen from a van parked on Bank Street some time between 6.30pm last Wednesday and 7.30am the following morning.
Inspector Louise Brownlie said:“The vans were both parked on the street and the tools and toolboxes removed from within the vehicles.
“We would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us by calling 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
These two thefts are the latest in a series of incidents where commercial vans have been broken into in Coatbridge and Inspector Brownlie added:“Owners of vans are urged to remove items of value, where possible, and ensure vehicles are parked securely, on driveways preferably, and with all doors and windows secured.”
