Wait to hear fate
Sentence has been deferred on a Chapelhall boxer who conducted an 11-year campaign of violence and intimidation against three former girlfriends.
The women were forced to give evidence during the five-day trial of Brendan Smith at Airdrie Sheriff Court last month.
Smith was due to learn his fate yesterday but Sheriff Frank Pieri deferred sentencing until next month to “obtain a psychiatric report and a report from your addiction worker”.
Family members attended the hearing to support Smith - who had turned up at court with a bag - expecting to be jailed.
