Sentence deferred again on‘unfit’ driver
Sentence has been further deferred on a man who drove in Coatbridge while “unfit through drink or drugs”.
Joseph McGinty, 45, also got behind the wheel while disqualified from driving – and without insurance – on May 26.
The Glasgow native was caught by police officers on Whifflet Street and taken into custody at Coatbridge police office.
McGinty owned up to all three charges at Airdrie Sheriff Court and was due to be sentenced last week.
However, Sheriff Morag Shankland chose to defer proceedings until July 12 to “allow for a psychiatric report to be carried out”.
The sheriff also continued consideration of the Crown’s motion for forfeiture of the vehicle McGinty drove until the same date.
