Jordan gifts jersey he paid £2350 for
A die-hard Airdrieonians fan is sure to feel the love from his fellow Diamonds tonight and for some time to come after forking out thousands for a signed Elton John top.
Generous Jordan McLay paid a whopping £2350 for the jersey signed by the Rocket Man just before his recent memorable show at the Excelsior Stadium.
Jordan’s magnificent McLay-out will go towards the Airdrieonians Supporters Trust and the Kitaid project.
And as an added goodwill gesture, IT business owner Jordan handed back the top to the Trust – which will now be framed and displayed in the Diamond Sensory Room.
With the uncertainty surrounding the financial stability of the club, and fundraising ideas being put forward by the Trust, Jordan says he decided “to put his money where his mouth is ”and bid for the top.
“I remember Airdrie struggling before and I know they are looking for investment just now – so I decided to get involved.
“The Trust do a lot of good work so I’m more than happy to help if I can.”
Jordan admits he isn’t the biggest fan of Elton John’s music, saying: “He has one or two good songs”.
Then he said he would have put the money in for any Airdrie top regardless of the autograph.
“If it was any top up for auction I would have bid on it too. ,”he added.
“The Trust were happy to take it back and frame it, so I’m happy that it will be on display now.”
