Com­mu­nity gets to­gether for day of fun in the sun

Coat­bridge res­i­dents turned out in huge num­bers for Satur­day’s Fes­ti­val Day.

Hun­dreds took ad­van­tage of the good weather and en­joyed the fes­tiv­i­ties and at­trac­tions at the town cen­tre event which is or­gan­ised by Coat­bridge com­mu­nity fo­rum.

And or­gan­i­sa­tions in­clud­ing Cit­i­zens’ Ad­vice Bureau, Po­lice Scot­land, Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue, Asda, Tesco, St An­drew’s Hospice, Town Cen­tre Ac­tiv­i­ties, H& C At­trac­tions and Routes to Work pro­moted their themes and cam­paigns, rang­ing from safety in the com­mu­nity to healthy eat­ing.

Fool On Sup­port, Reel­time Mu­sic, Dance Stu­dio and NL Leisure were also on hand to en­ter­tain.

Coat­bridge South coun­cil­lor Gor­don Encinias said: “The fes­ti­val was a great suc­cess. The chil­dren and fam­i­lies of Coat­bridge made the most of the fa­cil­i­ties and in­for­ma­tion ser­vices on of­fer.

“A spe­cial thanks to those or­gan­i­sa­tions and vol­un­teers who con­trib­uted! We look for­ward to host­ing an even big­ger and bet­ter fes­ti­val next year.”
