Health on the agenda

Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser - - Wedding of the Week - Ian Bunting

Monklands families are being encouraged to lead healthier lifestyles thanks to Make, Move and Munch Clubs.

A series of eight free sessions are being held across North Lanarkshire over the summer holidays as part of a major charity drive.

The National Charity Partnership ( NCP), a partnership between Diabetes UK, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Tesco, is funding the clubs as part of its two-year Let’s Do This health campaign.

The free activities are being delivered by Lanarkshire community food and health partnership and are designed to support families to eat better and move more.

Katherine Hale, prevention programme manager for the NCP, said: “Many people aren’t aware Type 2 diabetes and heart and circulatory disease are largely preventable conditions and eating healthily is one way people can reduce their risk.

“Our clubs are designed to provide families with information, skills and support to help them improve their health by making changes to their lifestyles.”
